A MONTH OF MARCH TO REMEMBER

A MONTH OF MARCH TO REMEMBER

LOWER BRECK11 Apr - 18:11

A Outstanding Team Effort...

Winning the Premier Division award for March 2025 is Lower Breck. This is the second time this season that they have won Club of the Month having also picked up the accolade in December.

Breck played a whopping eight games in the month, winning all eight of them as they continue to battle it out with Bury for the Premier Division title. They played three home games and five on the road, scoring 30 goals and conceding just four.

The opening game was at Longridge Town and was goalless at the break, but the second half was action packed. Longridge hit a penalty over the bar before Elliot Hughes put Breck ahead. James Kemp then levelled before Samuel Burns restored Breck's lead moments later. Barely an hour was on the clock. We had to wait until 12 minutes from time for the next goal, Burns grabbing his second, with Jordan Barrow making it four a couple of minutes later. Lewis Buckley added a fifth in the last minute.

Next up was a home game against West Didsbury & Chorlton on a Thursday night. Liam Morris opened the scoring on 13 minutes with an Own Goal just before the break making it two. Tom Croughan added a third on 57 minutes before West got a consolation to make it 3-1.

Less than 48 hours later, FC St Helens were the visitors to Anfield with the result another emphatic win for Breck. An Own Goal put them on their way with Elliot Hughes adding another in first half stoppage time. Jesse Dowling made it three at the start of the second half before a Samuel Burns double made it five. St Helens added a consolation with the game ending 5-1.

A third home game inside a week followed, this time some Thursday night football against South Liverpool, with Breck winning registering their biggest home win of the season in a 6-0 win. Tom Croughan gave them an early lead with Thomas Mitchell and Jesse Dowling making it three at the break. Samuel Burns added another in the first minute of the second half, with Elliot Hughes making it five midway through the half and Dowling adding the sixth in stoppage time.

The fifth game of the month was a short trip to AFC Liverpool. Breck left it late in this game with Tom Croughan opening the scoring 20 minutes from time. Lewis Buckley made it two with two minutes remaining, Breck winning 2-0.

A midweek trip to Colne followed with Jack Holt putting the hosts ahead inside seven minutes. Breck levelled on 26 minutes through Daniel Lowey before Jesse Dowling put Breck ahead four minutes before the break. A Samuel Burns goal in the 66th minute made it safe with 3-1 being the final score.

Game seven of the month was another away trip, this time to Stockport Town. Another Own Goal on 15 minutes put them on their way before Samuel Burns made it 2-0 midway through the second half.

The final game saw Breck travel to FC Isle of Man and once again they dominated. Thomas Mitchell put them ahead in first half stoppage time before a quickfire double around the hour mark from Jesse Dowling and Elliot Hughes made it three. Samuel Burns made it 4-0 with ten minutes remaining, Breck's tenth successive league win.

Those results gave Breck 29 points towards the Club of the Month calculation from their 8 games for a 3.63 average.

The closest challengers were Bury who also had a 100% winning month, playing five games with a 3.40 average. Burscough and Ramsbottom United were also up there in the calculations.
