Depleted But Divine From The Lads Available...

A cracking win today beating St Helens Town 5-1 and in the process playing our best football of the season so far.

Luke Duffy had a early sighter before we hit the bar three times with Mitchell Culshaw,Tom Kinsella & Ricky Ager all smashing it.

The opener was to come from another freekick with Paul Mooney sending it low into the left hand corner with the keeper seeing it to late.

We looked in total control until a set piece was power headed home from close range as we didn’t set up properly from the corner and was duly punished.

We got the lead we deserved just before half time with Ste Milne laying it of to Liam Morris who took one touch before smashing home a unstoppable strike into the roof of the net.

HT 2-1

We was near caught napping after the restart with a great one v one chance for the saints number 9 just creeping past the post.

From there we cranked it up a gear and played some beautiful football all over the park with Luke Duffy at the heart of it.

Our third came via Dean Shacklock on for only a minute he rounded the keeper and slotted home but it was Luke Duffy who provided the assist with a sublime piece of skill.

Am not sure how many men he beat or twisted, turned, megged but it was a outrageous bit of skill that got rewarded with Shacks finish.

Our 4th seen the hard working Ste Milne get amongst the goals with Paul Mooney seeing a shot deflected onto the bar Ste was on hand to header it home and the 5th quickly followed and it was Luke Duffy the provider once again putting it on a plate for Jamie Henders who megged the keeper with his finish.

FT 5-1

Some quality football on show today and in the blazing sun the lad done a proper job of managing the game and going forward second half we played some stunning football and of it wasn’t for the St Helens keeper double figures would have been hit.

With 9 lads missing tonight and with a keeper making his debut (Josh Molloy is out for 6/8 weeks) this was big win for the lads.

Man Of Match vote went to Luke Duffy when he in the mood like today you try taking the ball of him and the build up to Shacks goal alone was worthy of the vote.

Also a mention for Liam Morris who got the half time hook for his last performance at Steeton and come back in today and put in a massive shift and capped it with a cracking finish also.

Liam showed his quality today and what he brings to this team.

A great Bank Holiday crowd today of over 170+ which was bolstered by a few of my good old footy mates who I’ve not seen for going on 15 years which was great to see and they have been well and truly bitten by the Breck bug now.

Tommy Steele Charles Arrowsmith Tony Moore Neil Hagen great to see you all gents.

A well earned rest now for the lads with no game Saturday before we welcome Vauxhall Motors to Anfield Sports in the league cup Saturday
7th September.

We Go Again.
