Points Shared In Atrocious Weather...

A 2-2 draw in our final game of the season with the game played in them atrocious weather conditions today.

Took the lead through a Jay Colbeck header at the back post with Luke Duffy looking too swing one goal bound Jay was on hand to knock it home.

Carlisle looked for a equaliser and had a few opportunity’s before getting one back with us being flat footed inside our box and after Josh pulled of a great save the rebound was slotted home with 3/4 lads not reacting.

Louis Austin also had a great chance hitting the post after the keeper was caught in no mans land.

HT 1-1

Into the wind for the second half and we looked the better side once again and once we got going it looked like we was going too manage the conditions much better than our visitors did first half but we found ourselves 2-1 down when a shot was hit from a tight angle it took a nasty deflection of Paul Mooney and lopped passed Josh.

We pushed for a equaliser and just as it looked like we was running outta ideas a majestic ball from Paul Mooney put in 17 year old Bobby Walsh who was making his first start for the first team and Bobby took it in on the keeper and slotted it into the bottom corner.

We had a few opportunities to grab a winner with the best falling too Paul Mooney but that was snatched at and the game finished 2-2 and to compound our misery news came in that AFC had beaten Avro to not only cost Avro the league title but pip us to 3rd position.

We now must wait for the FA to decide if we have a FA Cup qualifying place for next seasons competition.

FT 2-2

A tough way to finish our first North West Counties campaign but we only have ourselves to blame for not finishing higher with the amount of points we have dropped against teams you simply have to beat.

Beating the top 3 sides but loosing to 3/4 sides in the division says it all really.

But on reflection what a season it has been for the club with us now well and truly on the map.

2019/20 promises to be a massive season for the club and after a well earned rest we will come back much stronger with a squad of lads committed to giving it much better go.

Man Of Match today went to Bobby Walsh who put in a quality performance on his first start for the first team capping it with a well taken goal and showing everyone the quality we have coming through.

A special mention to all those who braved that snorkelling esq weather today as we took a absolute battering once again via the good old British weather.

We say it all the time but as a club we appreciate all the support we have received this season and we hope to keep pushing the club into the local community’s thoughts next season as we look to build on what we have at Anfield Sports.

End of season awards will follow this message and we will keep all our followers up to date with info over the next few weeks as we look to build up to the 2019/20 season (after a well earned break that is).

We will go again.
