Man For Man The Breck Step Up when It Matters Most...

A perfect response to Saturday’s performance bouncing back with a cracking 4-2 win at home to AFC Liverpool.

Another struggle to get a team out today and to scratch a squad of 12 lads we had to call up one of the lads from the ressies to come straight in for a start and with three lads struggling with bad knocks we was up against it today.

From the start it looked like it was going to be another tough day with the game starting flat and when we went one nil down we looked dejected and not looking capable of a response but I was gladly proven wrong within a few minutes.

The lads upped there game and we started to move the ball around with our usual assured confidence and we got a equaliser from Johno Swatton after a great cut back from Jamie Henders.

With the confidence back in are football Luke Duffy cracked a post and Paul Mooney looked to have bent one top bin but it just creeped wide but we kept on pushing and it was Khyle Robinson who had stepped up from the ressies for his second first team appearance of the season who got a well taken goal with Paul Mooney turning provider.

On the stroke of half time Luke Duffy smashed home a stunning strike after linking up Jamie Henders with Duffy rifling into the bottom corner.

HT 3-1

Second half didn’t come to life until late on with Luke Duffy seeing a shot tipped onto the post before he then turned provider for our fourth putting a quality ball into the path of Jamie Henders who hit a unstoppable strike past the keeper to cap another big performance from our moaning pensioner.

Within a minute AFC made it 4-2 and the pressure was back on with the lads tiring all over but we dug deep and seen out the game with some nice keep ball fuzzball.

FT 4-2
A cracking win for the Breck today bouncing straight back from a poor day on Saturday.

Am first person to nail the lads when they don’t perform to the level there all about but today the 12 lads we had available stood up for this club and put a massive performance in.

We’ve been dealt a rough card the last few weeks with injuries, suspension and lads proper letting us down all taking its toll and it was the same issue today with 3 lads playing with bad knocks and on another day they wouldn’t have even been considered.

Our changing room before the game was like a hospital triage with plasters bandages ointments and all potions being taken just too get a team out on the pitch so credit to those who sucked it up.

Plenty of MOM contenders but Jay Colbeck picked up the vote with a quality performance with and without the ball in the centre of the park.
When he is on the front foot looking to get us playing there not many better at the tippy tappy football we love at Breck.

That’s 13 home wins on the spin at Anfield Sports and a 14th in our last game of the season next Saturday will secure a top 3 finish and more importantly a FA Cup spec for the club.

A massive thanks to the 155 in attendance today aside from the cup games that’s our second best league gate of the season we can’t thank you enough and more of the same be great next week as we finish our maiden season in the north west counties league.

We Go Again.

Up The Breck...
