A much needed and deserved win yesterday against a Stafford side who will no doubt be fighting for the title come what May.
We got off to a flying start when a ball from Jacob Poytress found Elliott Hughes and Elliott cut the ball back to create a yard for himself he sent home a stunning finish to get us off to the perfect start.
Without being dominant all the good stuff was coming from ourselves with the main Stafford threat being that lethal long throw, but they got themselves back in the game when Liam Morris seen his clearance blocked and with the ball deflecting in favour of the Rangers player he managed to drive in the box create a yard and lift it over Jacob, disappointing for us as we had a chance to hook the ball away prior to it going back to Morris.
Our second came after some great interplay which once again started with Poytress in goal, with a few passes the ball found its way to Elliott who produced more quality skill before switching it out wide, some nice interplay followed before Luke Denson slotted under the keeper to get his first goal in a Breck shirt.
An excellent first half from the lads.
HT 2-1
Second half started a little a slower but once again it was defending the long ball with that throw in again causing the most trouble, and it was a set piece that seen the equaliser come when Jacob got caught under a ball with one of our defenders his main threat, and it wasn’t dealt with, and it was sent home with the aid of a deflection.
That joy for Stafford was short-lived when we looked to put a ball into the box from the left the Rangers skipper handled and up stepped Luke Gill who made no mistake 3-2.
It was Luke Gill on the scoresheet again when a free kick delivery from Sam Burns was sent over and after the ball fell to Gilly he created a yard to turn and swivel, and he smashed home a cracking finish.
Stafford weren’t done and after Liam Morris tried to take a high ball down along the touchline he stretched a little too much, and it put the Stafford winger into space and after cut back across the box it was 4-3 and game on with 8 minutes remaining.
The nail in the coffin and one that saves any further palpitations seen Elliott Hughes send a tame shot goal-wards and an after slip from the Stafford keeper the ball found its way into the goal.
FT 5-3
Another classic down at the Anny when we needed to be right on it to beat a very good Stafford side and right on it we was, from front to back the lads put massive shifts in and got the three points we deserved.
The Probe Services MOM went to Luke Denton, from step 7 to 4 in a week made it look a breeze…
I could mention many more big performances with Elliott Hughes & Luke Gill also deserving of a nod with both outstanding with and without the ball…
A good vocal crowd down at the Anny with the support for both sides loud throughout, we thank all those in attendance and goes without saying we wish Stafford Rangers all the very best in the FA Cup 1st Round next weekend.
Back at it Tuesday night for our 10th game in 30 days, once again we will patch the lads up and go give it another right go, we hope you can come join us to back the lads once again.
We Go Again.
