A dominant performance yesterday (especially second half) seen us beat Shifnal Town 2-0.
We changed formation to start the game and while we weren’t really troubled it wasn’t working well enough in possession, and we reverted to our usual shape, and it wasn’t long before we took total control.
With the press from the front being on point Luke Gill managed to nick a ball and cut it back for Sam Burns who near took the net off with his unstoppable finish.
It was Sam’s press that set us up for the second half when he made uk the ground to apply the pressure needed for Town to turn the ball over and after Danny McKenna found Sam with a lucky assist Sam twisted and turned to create a yard, and he put away a tidy finish.
HT 2-0
Second half we had to defend well with the impressive Terence Miles putting his body on the line to make one massive block and Jacob Poytress made himself big to thwart a close range effort also but at the other end we should have put another three or four away.
Sam Burns missed a sitter after some excellent work from Gilly, Jack Hont had a glorious opportunity to get on the scoresheet with a close range header but could only hit the keeper.
Another encouraging performance and a clean sheet is always welcomed.
FT 2-0
First off hats tipped to Shifnal Town who lost there management team and some players in the week, they certainly came to play, so all credit goes to them for stepping up in whats been a tough time for them.
For us another solid performance and many positives and on another say we grab a few more goals, but we take the two, clean sheet and move onto Tuesday night away at Kidsgrove Athletic.
The Probe Services MOM went to Terence Miles who was outstanding from start to finish, hunger, desire, leadership and put his head and body on the line.
As said up next up it’s Kidsgrove away and game on game it’s going to get tougher with kocks and niggles running right through the squad so we will manage it best we can and go looking for another big three on Tuesday night.
We Go Again.
Up The Breck…
