A much-needed performance from the lads last night when we had to settle for a point, but the performance probably deserved all three.
We started positively and new man Luke Deno went straight on the attack beating two men, but his delivery was cut out.
Luke Gill was up next with his first chance of the game comfortably saved by the Hanley keeper, but he made no mistake with second opportunity a few moments later with a well taken finish giving us a deserved lead.
We were on the front foot with the electric Elliott Hughes & Sam Burns both driving with the ball we were looking dangerous.
Sadly the recent injury curse struck again not once but twice with Terence Miles & James Cooper both succumbing to hamstring issues.
HT 1-0
First 25 minutes of the second half was more of the same, but the extra long throw from Hanley was causing problems and after Jacob Poytress was forced into an excellent save from a melee Hanley grabbed an equaliser not long after.
A ball from back to front seen the lads make a big claim for offside, the flag stayed down and with Jacob coming for a ball he wasn’t going to get he was lobbed with ease.
Hanley backs were up and with their directness now causing problems they got a second which was certainly well taken.
We could have wilted, but the lads kept going, and after a sublime glanced header from Connor Millington into the path of Jak McCourt he smashed it home to get us back on level terms which was more than deserved.
FT 2-2
A point we most certainly deserved and a much better performance in all departments also, with the hunger, drive and desire there for all to see the challenge is now to back it up.
The Probe Services MOM went to Sam Burns who despite also carrying a knock played on the front foot and was a threat throughout.
Fantastic support last night with the passion on the concourse felt on the pitch, and we will need more of that come Saturday afternoon when welcome Stafford Rangers to the Anny.
We Go Again..
