A cracking result on the road last night coming away from Clitheore with a 1-0 win.
First half we were brave in possession against a strong press but when we got into the good areas that final ball / decision was the wrong one, our hosts put plenty of pressure on us, but we went in at the break happy enough with the first half performance.
HT 0-0
The half-time team talk was simple let’s get to the second balls quicker and when we get in the final third let’s test the keeper and within the first ten minutes you could see the difference and when the first opportunity presented itself Sam Burns was on hand to lob the keeper to give us the lead.
Luke Gill had a glorious chance to make it two when Lucas Wilson found him with a peach of a ball, Gilly took the ball in on goal, but his effort skimmed the post.
Clitheroe kept up there direct approach, but the lads stood firm and with our keeper and back line strong we seen out the game to come away with a massive 3 points from our first trip on the road this season.
FT 1-0
Once again it was bare bones with a couple of lads unavailable, so the 12 lads called upon had to put in some shift on a massive pitch and whilst our hosts had some decent enough chances we had a fair few ourselves, and we will take them away wins all day long.
The Probe Services MOM went to Luke Gill who unselfishly led the line for 94 minutes and whilst he didn’t have too much to work with in possession, without the ball he was just as important.
First away of the season and an emotional one for obvious reasons, and it was great to see us travel in great numbers and give the lads, club and myself some unbelievable support.
A massive thank you to Clitheore for the respect they have shown hosting a minutes applause and for there all around empathy towards the situation, class from the top to bottom.
That one was for you dad.
It’s FA Fever on Saturday afternoon as we welcome Euxton Villa to the Anny 3pm kick off, hopefully we can get a good crowd in as we look to go on a good cup run.
