A fantastic start to the new season with a largely dominant performance beating Lichfield City 4-1.

From the first minute we were right on it with the ball and was carving City open at will and without the heroics of the keeper it would have been a big first half scoreline with Burns, Hughes, Cherera & Gill all being thwarted with some stunning finger tipped saves.

It took a set piece delivery from Sam Burns to finally beat the City keeper with Will Lawson heading home from close range.

Liam Morris was forced into a last ditch tackle with near the last kick of the half which prevented our opponent getting what would have been a proper sucker punch.

HT 1-0

Second half City changed formation and was the better side without overly troubling us and just as the game was looking interesting we managed to grab the second goal, and it was a stunning glancing but powerful header from Luke Gill with Burns once again assisting.

The two goal lead was gifted away when a Bo Dixon ball was given away cheaply and with the ball then coming down the middle the attacker somehow jinked his way into the box, Bohan tried his hardest to rectify the mistake, but it was a tidy finish past Brown.

Alex Brown was forced into a big save, on the eye of maybe looked basic but a big one v one save it was which is as good as a goal in them moments.

The lads started to take control of the ball once again, but it wasn’t till a late flurry we finally killed the game off.

Some good play from right to left found Danny McKenna’s overlapping run, and he delivered a ball for the impressive Luke Gill to power home another header, capping a great competitive debut from Gilly.

A back to front break from Alex Cherera seen him carry the ball sixty plus yards and his finish was ridiculous finding the bottom corner.
Game well and truly wrapped up.

FT 4-1

A very good performance to open the campaign, with the ball we were classy at times, being picky a few things to work on out of position but still a very good afternoon down at the Anny.

The Probe Services Group MOM award went to Billy Edmondson who put in a energetic shift in the middle of the park and was box to box throughout, Luke Gill’s performance was also deserving of a mention for his brace and overall contribution.

Was good to see everyone back at the Anny with a good crowd in also and we thank you all for popping along.

Wednesday nights game has been postponed due to Atherton Colls having a cup replay so we now move onto Kidsgrove away on Saturday afternoon, hope you can come join us.
