Breck Comeback To Grab A Point...

A thrilling 3-3 draw last night with Congleton Town, with us coming back from 3-1 down.

Couldn’t have asked for a better start when Connor Millington unleashed a goal of the season contender, Tom Croughan laying the ball off to Millo he in turn created a yard for himself and hit one from 30 yards out, that bar and in sound making the hit even more special.

A confident 25 minutes from ourselves but after three or four misplaced passes in quick succession we gifted Town an opportunity to punish us and that was duly taken with the big number nine lobbing Theo after he was caught out due to us turning the ball over so cheaply.

It didn’t get any better for us and Theo after we were caught on a counter-attack and with the ball carried forward way too easy it was put though for the Town player, Theo brought him down as the ball was knocked past him, penalty given and converted 2-1 Congleton.

HT 1-2

The second half couldn’t have started any worse with a long ball taking out the right side of our defence and after losing the contest to win the ball it was cut back across and tapped in at the back post, a very poor goal.

Congleton were looking dangerous on the break and could have wrapped the game up, but like we have done over the last year of being unbeaten at the anny we found a way to get back into a game we probably didn’t deserve to be in with Alex Cherera at the forefront of the fightback.
Driving down t
he left-hand side, Alex beat his man and cut a ball back for Lewis Buckley who took a touch to steady himself before turning and smashing it home, game on.

The equalizer seen a deep corner nodded back across goal from Fitzy which in turn found Alex at the back post and he rose above everyone and headed home (some leap to get on the end of it).

The game was now stretched, we got in some good areas to go get a winner, but we just couldn’t find it, and it was Congleton who had the best opportunity when a corner was sent over and after a knock back to a free man he has seen his shot cannon of the crossbar.
A nervy end to the game but a point salvaged from an overall sloppy showing from ourselves.

FT 3-3

Fair to say Congleton came with a game plan of direct football and give them all the credit they deserve it near paid off with there number nine being the major difference on the night occupying and putting pressure on our back line throughout.

But I’ll give these boys credit once again as they stuck at it and dragged a point outta a game when not at our best, can’t play well every game and if you take a point outta them tough nights you have to be happy and move on from it quickly.

The Watch The Time MOM went to Alex Cherera who wasn’t at his best for sixty minutes but stuck at it and got his rewards dragging us back into the game.

As always a massive thank you to those in attendance, your support as always was greatly appreciated ,sadly one of our lowest gates for a long time but with the reds on the box we knew we would have some stiff competition.

We’re right back at it Saturday afternoon when we host Sporting Khalsa 3pm kick off, we hope you can come join us down at the Anny.
We Go Again.
