Our place in the play-offs was secured yesterday with a 3-1 win away at Shifnal Town in glorious sunshine.
First half there wasn’t much to shout about with a stop/start half being spoiled by some strange decisions for both sides.
The game finally came to life when a Shifnal Town player blocked a shot with his arm and a penalty was rightly awarded, up stepped Connor Millington who calmly put it away.
HT 1-0
Within five minutes of the restart we took the game away from Town, and it was the skipper who had his boot in both.
After the Shifnal keeper chose to punch a set piece away it fell to Millo around 30 yards out, he had to side step / beat a man before then unleashing a sublime strike from distance leaving the keeper with no chance.
Millo’s magic moments didn’t stop there and a delightful ball over the two Alex Chehera seen him take a cracking touch across his man and he made no mistake sending it home into the far corner.
With the sun blazing down a few tired legs came into play, and we let Shifnal back into the game with a routine ball not being dealt with and the Town frontman took his chance well.
Our hosts followed that up hitting the inside of the post as the lads were looking a little nervy but with the injection of fresh legs we got a good shape about us and done what was needed to see the game out and secure the play off place we certainly deserved.
FT 3-1
Fair to say a nervy occasion with pressure on the lads to go and deliver a performance to get us over the line and yes it wasn’t pretty, but we got the goals at great times in the game to set up a cracking pay off fixture away at our pals Avro on Tuesday night.
The MOM went to the skipper Connor Millington who put in a classy performance, two goals, one assist and pressing three, four men across the pitch what’s not to love about that, plus his new song is a cracker.
As always we were backed by vocal support from the warm-up to the final whistle and only the pub after it, not many more words can be said about the support we have had on the road this season, but I’ll look to find them once again after we go and do it all over again on Tuesday night.
We hope you can come and join us.
We Go Again.
