FIGHTBACK THROWN AWAY ON ANOTHER DAY OF GIFTS

FIGHTBACK THROWN AWAY ON ANOTHER DAY OF GIFTS

LOWER BRECK19 Apr - 19:29

Pay Off Destiny Still In Our Hands...

Once again its poor mistakes that leave us chasing a game, and then we throw the fightback away late on with poor game management as we fall 3-2 at home to Newcastle Town.

An early yellow card for Michael Fitzgerald (which most probably should have been red) caused us a few problems as Newcastle Town’s direct and clever approach seen them attack that side of the pitch and with us being way of the first and second balls they were getting joy with time to put it in behind.

For us the best chance of the half seen Alex Chehera slash at a one v one opportunity blazing it well wide and in recent Breck fashion we then give a gift away, Jay Cooper telegraphing a ball to the feet of a Town player on the half way line, counter-attacked and duly punished.

Michael Fitzgerald was substituted to save him from a second yellow as he was being dragged into areas cos those in-front was way off it.

HT 0-1

Second half the shocking mistakes came again when Jordan Barrow laid a ball of to Frazer Cookson at the back which didn’t get there, and it was left for the Town frontman to take it in on Theo’s goal and slot it away.

A neat bit of play seen Newcastle have a great opportunity for a third, but the ball was flashed across the box.

A response came, and it was Elliott Hughes who produced a good bit of play on the left jinking inside and getting shot off, The Town keeper will be disappointed he didn’t stop it.

We pushed hard and found ourselves a equaliser when a turn and shot from Lewis Buckley found the bottom comer.

Hate to mention the match official but in my opinion he missed two stone wall penalties with the second one seeing Sam Burns boot taken off his heal.

The game was getting stretched, and we were looking the likely winner Nathan Corness going close with a free kick before an unbelievable chance for Alex Chehera fell to him at the back post and all he has to do is guide it into an empty net, and he got his header all wrong.

As in recent Breck fashion we then throw a point away with the very last kick of the game, after a kick up the field from Theo was uncontested the header went into the midfield and poor foul was given away by Frazer.

Freekick delivered into the box and the first header was missed and the second was also with that looping over Theo whose position was poor.

Literally the last moment of the game.

FT 2-3

As we have seen in 2026 we have not only gave away absolutely awful goals we’re doing it at the worst time possible also and simply put lessons ain’t being learnt no matter what’s being passed on to the players.

For us now it goes down to the last day of the season when a win at Shifnal Town will see us take the final play off place, a draw will need us relying on results elsewhere but for now it’s still in our hands.

MOM went to Elliot Hughes who got the goal to get us back in the game and was dangerous throughout the second half.

As always fantastic support for our last home game of the season now we need it once again for a massive away day for the club, we hope you can join us next Saturday as we go looking for the win to secure our play off place.

We Go Again.
