A point on the road yesterday away at Kidsgrove Athletic and one that may prove vital with four games left to play.
Largely in control for 25 plus minutes with Kidsgrove happy to kill the time at every opportunity, but when our throw in was gifted back to Grove they countered and forced Theo into a comfortable save, but the resulting header seen Theo misjudge the cross, and it was headed home, once again a poor goal for us to concede when in control of the game.
The reminder of the half seen the same pattern, but clear-cut openings were hard to come by.
HT 0-1
Second half was largely the same with us now having to force the openings and on a pitch that you struggle to string two passes together it was proving very difficult but as we rolled the dice with substitutions and lads moving into different positions we got the rewards when Paddy Kay sent home a cracking looping finish, and it was deserved.
We had two big moments to get the winner, but Lewis Buckley couldn’t keep his efforts down and right at the death Theo made amends for his earlier mistake making two excellent saves to deny Grove.
FT 1-1
Days like that you have to take a draw and if we’re honest we had a few lads below par but on that surface it was hard for our ball players to get any football going, and it wasn’t for the lack of trying that’s for sure.
MOM went to Theo Roberts who made vital saves at the death to make sure we came home with the point we certainly deserved.
As always backed by fantastic vocal support which helped the lads in the tough moments.
Up next, we welcome Vauxhall Motors to the Anny for what promises to be a humongous game in the play off race, we hope you can come and join us.
We Go Again.
