A somewhat flat performance yesterday, but a point is a point as we drew 2-2 with Nantwich Town.
Looked good enough with the ball in the first half and after poor tackle on Liam Morris seen a Town player receive a straight red card the match odds tipped in our favour but anyone who knows the game gets tougher against ten if you don’t get the basics right.
We got the goal lead against the ten men Town when a delightful Jordan Barrow ball found Sam Burns who sent home a sublime finish
We should have built on that goal, but sadly a set piece delivery was met and with the ball spilling of the post and Paddy in goal it was a tap in for Town.
HT 1-1
After a few mis-placed passing at the start of the second half we let Town settle into there ten man shape and they gotta goal on the back of it.
With Paddy clattered coming to meet the ball his punch fell to the Nantwich player who floated it into an empty net, one of them goals you have seen a foul given many times for the challenge on Paddy but for me no complaints.
As we always do, we kept going and when Sam Burns drove from the left he got himself into the box and this clattering got the penalty, up stepped Sam and his penalty was perfect.
We pushed for the winner and had two massive opportunities with Dan Lowey & Michael Fitzgerald both having massive chances at the back post, but one was hit high and wide and the other hit the side netting.
FT 2-2
A slightly disappointing performance as we didn’t capitalize on the ten men Town had for sixty minutes but as they say if you can’t win don’t lose it, and we take the point and move on to Trafford on Tuesday night.
The MOM went to Sam Burns who bagged another brace and took his tally to 19 for the season.
As always massive thank you to those in attendance, another good gate and support once again, hope to see you on the road with us on Tuesday night.
We Go Again.
