Poor Goals Undo Big Shifts...

A three nil defeat last night at home to Bury which is probably a flattering a scoreline but the better side certainly won.

Started the game so well and could have scored town within the first two minutes.

Alex Chehera hitting a first time shot from just inside the box which forced a quality save from the Bury keeper and from the resulting corner Connor Millington brought out a stunning save from the keeper who managed to divert the ball just wide.

Other than a few handbags after Sam Burns challenge we managed to limit Burys opportunities, and it was a first half job well done.
HT 0-0
The second half was similar to the first being very tense, and it was always going to hinge on who could get the first goal and after two long throw in’s it was Bury who got.
After the ball was cleared back out wide it was pumped back in and with Theo neither sticking nor twisting he found himself in a poor position and a clever finish followed from the number nine.

You sensed the wind being taken from our game and Bury followed that up when a ball was lost in the middle of the park and following one ball forward it was two nil.

We rallied and Alex Chehera had two good chances, but his shots were easy to ideal with and then a massive moment seen Sam Burns send one across the box and Bucko was fractions away from getting a goal back.

Bury wrapped the game up with a third, and it was in similar circumstances to the second with a ball in behind being cut back for a simple tap in.

FT 0-3

Despite the deflation in defeat you have to give Bury all the credit they deserve for punishing us when we dropped our level, three nil was a slightly flattering scoreline, but we have to take it and move on quickly.

The MOM went to Michael Fitzgerald who first half was the best player on the pitch…

Just under 1300 people inside the Anny last night, and we have to be immensely proud as club for being in a position to host a game of such magnitude, and it shows how far we have come as a club in such a short space of time.

To all the staff and volunteers who put in massive shifts we can thank you all enough it was an outstanding job from all.

Up next we will welcome Everton to the Anny on Wednesday night in the LCFA Senior Cup Quarter Final as we look to avenge the cup final defeat from last May, we hope you can join us.

We Go Again.

Up The Breck…
