A night when the score line didn’t reflect the performance but still a shocker all the same.
We started the game well and Sam Burns had a glorious chance to give us the lead but was thwarted by the Trafford keeper.
With Connor Millington off the pitch receiving treatment for a dead leg a punt up the pitch was met by the number nine who moved it onto the winger and after a clever drop of the shoulder he drilled one from the edge of the box, a poor goal from our perspective.
Trafford’s pressing was causing us problems, but we still found ourselves in great areas and after some quality link up play Nathan Corness rolled his man but with time to take it in on goal he slashed at it wildly.
Sam Burns had another two unbelievable opportunities to get us level but once again he was thwarted by the Trafford keeper but in truth Sam has to do better in both them moments.
Missed chances the story of the half.
HT 0-1
First ten minutes of the half Trafford didn’t get near us and after another excellent passing move Corness had another massive chance this time a good save from the keeper was the result.
Then a moment of madness from Frazer Cookson turned the game back in Traffords favour when a nothing ball seen Frazer try to head home to the keeper from a very low angle and with it not getting there the Trafford man intercepted and Frazer took him out for a penalty which was dispatched.
A few minutes later it was 3-0 and I for life of me can’t remember how it went in but probably cos I was trying to blank out the previous one.
We pushed hard, and Sam Burns had another 3/4 glorious opportunities and throw in we also hit the post three times in the game that tells you we could have pitched up a tent and kept going all night, but it wasn’t going to be and to compound it a late goal for Trafford put a nail in.
FT 0-4
A flattering scoreline yes but once again we’ve been sucker punched for not doing the job at both ends of the pitch and once again we make an awful mistake that sucks the life outta the team, and it goes without saying, but it’s gotta stop.
The MOM went to Sam Burns who missed some chances but he never gave up even when the game was buried he kept running his plums off and others should take note.
As always tremendous support on the road and we thank you all for backing us once again on a tough night.
Next up it’s another massive away day when we travel to Stalybridge Celtic for a huge game in the play off positions, we hope you can come and join us.
We Go Again.
Up The Breck…
