Another slow start cost us yesterday as we were beaten 2-1 by Chasetown who do the double over us this season.
With 40mph wind in our faces Chasetown were always going to put it on us but for me, I’d say we let them dominate us a little two easy and when you're flat-footed as well it didn’t make for a good opening, and we found ourselves two goals down in 15 minutes, and it could have been more.
We had a perfectly good goal disallowed when a corner was swung in and Elliot Hughes headed home, the linesman gave the goal, the referee overruled for a shirt pull (see pictures).
On the stroke of half-time Chasetown went down to ten men with an off the ball incident being punished, I didn’t see it myself.
HT 0-2
Second half we dominated without troubling the goal, too many balls from wide areas when we needed to be patient and play though the middle, we got a goal back with eight minutes remaining from going down the middle with Sam Burns letting a shot off which found the bottom corner.
Few more balls into the box came to nothing and the referee blew his whistle for a deserved three points for Chasetown.
FT 1-2
We have been on an excellent run so we can’t have too may complaints on the result, but the lad's application and attitude were poor for large periods yesterday, and that will need to be put right if we’re to bounce straight back on Tuesday night away at Linnets.
As always backed by great support on a horrible day for the cold wind, we thank you all once again folks and hope you see you on the road Tuesday backing us once again.
We Go Again.
