Yet another massive win on the road, winning 3-1 away at Avro.
After an even start from both, Avro started to find a little more space and time, and they had a great opportunity to take the lead with Theo called into action to make a fantastic save.
We had our moments with a scuffed shot from Lewis Buckley not troubling the Avro goal and another chance see him running through on goal but he was hauled by the defender for a free kick and from there the game swung in our favour.
If am not mistaken it was a Danny McKenna floated freekick into the box that was met by the outstretched arm of an Avro player which took it off a Breck head and a penalty was rightly awarded, up stepped Lewis Buckley who seen his penalty save by the feet of the Avro keeper.
A quick response was needed, and we got one, with the introduction of Elliott Hughes who came on for the injured Jesse Downing, Elliott found himself on the right-hand side, and he laid a ball back to Bucko inside the box, and after he jinked away to the left he cut a shot back into the right-hand corner, just the response we needed.
With a few mistakes creeping into Avro’s game, we pounced all over them and Elliott Hughes once again found Bucko who managed to dink one over the keeper from close range to give us a two nil lead in a matter of minutes.
And the goals didn’t stop coming and yes it was Mr Hughes with his hat trick of assists sending the ball out to the left-hand side for Sam Burns who drove forward into the box and take a bow on the finish, a cracking goal and some spell from the Breck.
HT 3-0
Second half was all about game management and with Avro committing both fullbacks and the introduction of two attacking players we knew they would put us under pressure, but we managed it well for the best part, Theo was forced into two excellent saves and Avro did get what proved to be a consolation goal back.
We had a chance for a fourth very late on with Alex Cherera bursting though on goal, but a good save from Cam Mason kept it at 3-1 and that’s how it finished.
FT 3-1
Another fantastic away day performance from the lads and against a fantastic side whom we owed one to after the humbling of us at the Anny back in November.
That twenty minute spell from us was exactly what we asked for pre game and when we that hungry and on the front foot we take some stopping.
The MOM vote went to Elliott Hughes for his three assist performance and its just shows you what he brings to the team with his vision and unselfishness…
I can mention many more players on days like that but we have to give Billy Edmondson a shout. At just 17 going up against some vastly experienced CM’s he didn’t let us down and got better as the game went on, lots to learn but no doubt he got it all in his locker.
Yet again we was backed by great numbers and its support like that which helps to drive these lads on especially on them tough away days, as always we thank you all for making the trip another memorable one…
As always nothing but respect to the guys at Avro especially Rob & Mark whom its always a pleasure to catch up with and goes without saying I hope they will be in the mixer just like us come the end of the season but obviously still on place behind us…
Next up for us we welcome Chasetown to the Anny as we look to avenge the away defeat from early on in the season, we hope you can come join us for another biggun done at the Anny.
We Go Again.
Up The Breck…
