After a few home draws, it was back to winning ways as we beat Mossley AFC 2-1.

We were on the front foot throughout the first half, but the final ball was letting us down, but the lads were moving it about well and running hard aswell.

For all our possession the wasted opportunities with the ball was near punished when the Theo was called into action producing an excellent save from a one v one situation as he stood up and made himself big before saving low day and not long after that we got the breakthrough.
With a congested box, the ball found its way to Lewis Buckley who had the perfect angle to bend it around the bodies and into the left-hand corner, a quality guided finish it was.

Mossley then had another glorious chance when a miscommunication at the back presented an opportunity for Theo to be lobbed, but it was hit heavy and sailed over the bar.

HT 1-0

Second half id have to say Mossley started the brighter and had a glorious opportunity at the back post when it looked like the ball was sailing over the winger, but he stretched for it and got a solid connection on the ball, forcing a good save from Theo.

We made a couple of changes, and they instantly had the desired effect when Alex Chehera found space in the middle of the pitch and as he put on the burners he drove right through the Mossley defence and smashed home an excellent finish across the keeper and into the bottom corner.

Alex had a glorious chance to wrap the game up when his trickery on the right-hand side seen him cut back across the box and just as it looked like he was going to unleash a shot with his left peg he unselfishly tried to put it on a plate for Sam Burns, but the pass didn’t make it and the opportunity was lost.

Mossley’s corners were on point all day and in the 90th minute they delivered another, and it was powered home to make the remaining four minutes of injury time a very nervy one and with two more corners to see out it was a nail-biting finish but see it out we did for another three points.

FT 2-1

Once again not a game of many chances for ourselves but still we took the big opportunity’s when they came and it’s another valuable three points that will see us top the NPL on Christmas Day.

The MOM vote went to Liam Morris who was excellent in possession and covered some ground and at one point in the game was shunted onto the left wing, a big shift from Moz.
