BRECK BACK TO BEST TO BEAT BURY AT GIGG

LOWER BRECK16 Nov - 21:23

Cherera Shines And Shows His True Value...

Another outstanding team performance yesterday seen us beat Bury 2-0 away at Gigg Lane.

We came out the blocks and could have got the opener within the first minute, Lewis Buckley scuffing an effort straight to the keeper.

The rest of the half seen shots from McGee, Burns, Barrow & Cherera but nothing to overly trouble the Bury keeper and Theo was equally untested in the Breck goal.

A very good half from the lads, who grafted hard to stop Bury having very little ball in the final third.

HT 0-0

In the second half to a man we were outstanding, and it looked like it was only a matter of time before we would take the lead, but with chances getting wasted there was always that concern we would let Bury off the hook.

Sam Burns had two glorious opportunities, the first seen him put through one v one and just as it looked like he would slot it under the keeper he tried to go around him and was duly thwarted.

Soon after the Bury keeper came rushing out to clear his lines, but Sam once again found himself through on goal, but with the touch taking him to the left of the goal the defender done well to steer him further away and the move broke down.

Not to be deterred we kept on the front foot, and after we forced Bury into a mistake in the right corner, Alex Cherera found himself in on goal after a Lewis Buckley lay off and after a mazy movement he made no mistake tapping home into the bottom corner.

A change of formation for Bury didn’t help there cause and a few minutes later it was two, Alex Cherera turning provider after excellent more work on the right, he laid the ball off to Elliott Hughes who sent home a beautiful shaped finish.

Bury looked to force a response and got in down the right-hand side and with the ball delivered across, it was headed comfortably into Theo’s arms.

Eight minutes added time went up, and the lads seem them out the way they had managed the game, and we come away from Gigg Lane with a fantastic three points.

FT 2-0

No question about it the best team on the day and despite Bury having some decent possession they created very little on the back of it and that’s down to the workrate from the lads who done everything that was asked of them and produced another 98 minutes to be proud if and coming on the back of a tough midweek result it was the perfect response to that.

Just like midweek when there was no Watch The Time MOM yesterday it was hard to split the vote so all the lads will come away with the award.

What can we say about that support once again, sang from start to finish and backed us unbelievable numbers…the 12th man indeed.

Up next we travel to Prescott Cables in the LCFA Senior Cup as we look to go one better in this year’s competition, we hope you can join us.

We Go Again.
