A fantastic team performance resulted in a 3-1 win yesterday away at Bootle.
Straight from the kick-off Theo Roberts was forced into two quality saves, but following that we quickly started to cause Bootle problems ourselves and fourteen minutes in we got the opener, and it was a stunning hit from Alex Cherera who seen a ball sit perfectly for him before smashing an unstoppable started past one of the best keepers about.
We looked in control, but after a soft free kick on our behalf was given out on the left-hand side, the set piece was delivered back post for ex Breck frontman Connor Rankin to head home.
Bootle were having joy with the direct approach and their set pieces were causing problems, but the better chances were falling to us and Liam Morris forced the keeper into a stunning low down save.
A massive moment in the game on the stroke of half-time seen Sam Burns close range effort saved on the line by the Bootle winger, there was only one person in the ground who didn’t think it was a penalty and the Bucks certainly got away with one with the decision.
HT 1-1
Whilst there were speculative efforts the second half didn’t really come alive until we went into the last quarter, Theo was forced into another stunning stop before Alex Cherera thought he had his second of the game when he sent one into the far corner, but it cannoned back of the inside of the post to the keeper.
Within a minute of that effort we to the lead through a cracking diving header from Jordan Barrow, Harry McGee beating his man out on the left, and he delivered a lovely ball for Baz to power home.
Two minutes later the nail in the game came, and it was Alex Cherera once again providing that little bit of magic as he found himself on the left-hand side, and he caressed a beautiful floating finish into the far right corner, a fantastic finish to cap an excellent performance.
Bootle had one more chance in them, forcing Theo into another quality save, but that was all she wrote and another cracking away win.
FT 3-1
Two games in 48 hours is something we have been accustomed to by playing Thursday & Saturdays over years but to play in that blistering heat is another matter and we can’t fault the whole team for there efforts, we played some quality football, ran hard for 90+ and got what we deserved on the day, so hats of to the lads.
The Watch The Time MOM went to Alex Cherera who not only scored two special goals but his work-rate without the ball also caught the eye once again.
A massive thank you to those who came to see us yesterday, a cracking crowd over at Bootle and we must thank our cracking hosts also, a proper good club ran by top people.
Up next it’s 1st vs 2nd as we welcome Stafford Rangers to the Anny for what promises to be another fantastic occasion as we host one of the biggest clubs in non league.
We Go Again.
Up The Breck.
