BRECK TAKE A POINT FROM DOMINANT PERFORMACE

LOWER BRECK24 Aug - 11:36

Bar, Post And Plenty More Attempts Go Begging...

A 2-2 draw yesterday with Kidsgrove Athletic, and we can’t hide the disappointment of not taking all three in a game we dominated.

First 20 minute seen us carve open some great opportunities with the power and pace of our attacks being hard to contain but for all the dominance Kidsgrove took the lead.

Alex Cherera was dispossessed inside his own half and facing his own goal and as the Grove player delivered a ball from the left it was then cut back from out on the right-hand side to an unmarked man from 12 yards out, a soft goal to concede.

The response was class and within five minutes it was 1-1, Liam Morris hitting a stunning strike the cannoned of the angle and crossbar and Alex Cherera was on hand to tap home from close range.

We kept the pressure right on Kidsgrove, Sam Burns had a goal ruled out for offside, Liam Morris seen another attempt smack the crossbar after the keeper got his tips to it, Harry McGee had a great opportunity from a free kick and Alex Cherera had another massive chance he really should have done better with.

After all that we got the goal the pressure deserved, and it came from Lewis Buckley who seen his penalty saved, but the rebound was put away, Dan Lowey winning the penalty after some excellent work down the left-hand side.

A truly dominant half of football which didn’t reap the rewards it deserved.

HT 2-1
We started the half with another three big chances, Cherera, Burns the men with the opportunity’s but on sixty minutes it was all square after Theo Roberts found came rushing out to clear the lines, but he was beaten to the ball and despite the defence getting back to try to contain the Grove shot it was put away very well, maybe a call for offside came but still another very poor goal to concede and something we have to address quickly.

Once again a great response seen us put Grove under heavy pressure, and we don’t know how the ball stayed out.

Sam Burns hitting the inside of the post, Dan Lowey crashing another one onto the crossbar and Bucko, Cherera and Barrow all having massive chances snatched at and right at the depth after a moment of madness from the Kidsgrove keeper Jesse Dowling was presented with an open goal, it wasn’t easy from where he was positioned, but he has got to do better, but that was the story of the day, we have to do better at both ends.

FT 2-2

To take 10 points from a possible 12 we gotta be happy but you can’t not feel like that’s two points lost due to the sheer dominance of the performance and the chances we have created yet again.

The Watch The Time MOM went to Lewis Buckley who once again was a absolute handful for the experienced defenders and his performance deserved some form of reward.

As always a massive thank you to those in attendance and we have to thank the Kidsgrove supporters for travelling over in good number also, we look forward to the return at there place later in the season.

Quick turnaround as we head to Bootle on Monday afternoon for what promises to be a cracker, we hope you can come and join us.

We Go Again.
