BRECK LEAVE IT LATE AFTER ALBION FIGHTBACK

LOWER BRECK

Late Buckley Pen Secures Three Points...

Another deserved three points last night but was made to work hard for it after throwing away a two goal lead.

Started the game really well with Sam Burns forcing a strong save from the Witton keeper in the opening minute and just a few moments later we had the opener.

A throw in from Michael Fitzgerald was helped on via a glance from Jordan Barrow and after taking a touch with his back to goal Harry McGee then sent home an overhead kick, an excellent start.

The half turned into a proper tussle with Witton using the many set pieces they had well but can’t remember Theo being overly troubled, we have a few decent moments through Sam Burns, Alex Cherera & McGee but had to settle for the one goal lead going in.

HT 1-0

Just like the first half we came out firing and after forcing the Witton keeper into another good stop the resulting corner seen us grab a second when Sam Burns delivery found Michael Fitzgerald at the bank post, and he nodded it home.

From then, we lost our way with the football and similar to the first half we gave away to many silly fouls, and it was from one of them Witton got a reply, a freekick bouncing off the post and into the path of a Albion player to tap home, game on.

Whilst we were looking dangerous on the break we just couldn’t get the goal to kill the game off and in the 86th minute Witton were awarded a penalty and I didn’t see many complaints, pen dispatched and Albion on the front foot.

All credit to the lads they didn’t let their heads drop and went right back at Witton and after Alex Cherera forced his way through from the left-hand side he was taken out and without any question a penalty was given.

Up stepped Lewis Buckley who made no mistake to give the breck all three points.

FT 3-2

A really sold 60 minutes, but the drop-off let Witton back into a game they shouldn’t have been but all credit to them for pegging us back but once again credit to the lads who get what they deserved late on to cap a cracking opening week in the NPL for the club.

Tom Mitchell was the recipient of the Watch The Time MOM award, a body on the line performance from Mitch and a big shift throughout.

As always a massive thank you to those who joined us, your support is always appreciated, a decent crowd down at the Anny for our first midweek of the season, It was also great to see Ian Byrne & councillor Billy Lake in attendance aswell as NPL Chairman Mark Harris who paid us a visit for the first time aswell.

t’s a Saturday off for the lads before we face Atherton Colls away on Monday night, we hope you can come join us on the road.
We Go Again.

Up The Breck…
