Another very good performance from the lads last night to beat Pilkington 5-0.
Two goals in the first 15 minutes settled us right down, and following them it could have been five or six with the chances being created.
The first goal seen us move the ball from right to left and back again, and just as the move looked to have broken down a cheeky lob from Connor Millington kept it going and after great hold up and vision from Lewis Buckley he found Elliot Hughes who seen his cross parried, but the ball falling kindly at the feet of Sam Burns he made no mistake.
The second goal came from a Tom Douglas corner which found Elliot Hughes and after a drop of the shoulder he cut a finish back across the keeper and into the far comer.
A moment of madness from the man in the middle who sin binned Lewis Buckley for calling out “Ref, Ref” in a manner he didn’t like, that coming on the back of a neck/head injury that seen Owen Collinge down for near four minutes, big shifts all over preventing Pilks from causing us any issues.
As said, we had some big chances throughout the half but had to settle for a two goal lead at the break.
HT 2-0
Second half we came out a bit slow but with the gaps appearing and mistakes creeping into their game we punished Pilks and in particular Sam Burns it was who done them the damages.
His second of the game seen him hitting a first time finish after a Bucko cut back, Sam’s hat trick goal seen him pounce on hesitation at the back and his finish was sublime with a liftted lob the hitting the back of the net, he rounded up a terrific performance latching onto a Tom Croughan through ball and with a drop of the shoulder he created a yard to send home another cracking finish.
Once again, we had a few more chances, but it was a job well and truly done on the visitors.
FT 5-0
To back last week's performances up with another good win and clean sheet also speaks volumes for the dressing room at the minute, with lads unavailable through injury and work commitments, others come back in and stepped up and get we can’t ask for any more.
Sam Burns who well and truly celebrated Burns night with goals and another showing of pure quality.
A mention for James “Spud” Murphy who was back in the squad for the first time in close to a year after surgery, what a time to have him back.
Up next, we travel to Gigg Lane to face Bury and with the table getting tighter at the top, the game couldn’t be any bigger, we hope you can come join us.
We Go Again.
Up The Breck…
