The Play Offs Await...

Last league game of the season yesterday and the favour we needed elsewhere was virtually over after ten minutes, but the lads stuck to the task we had to beat Cheadle 4-1.

First half we had plenty of chances which were wasted before letting Cheadle have a few big moments themselves, but neither could get the opener on a pitch that didn’t help anyone.

HT 0-0

In the second half the game came alive, and it was a mistake by Dan Lowey which gifted Cheadle the opener, but from then the lads put in some second half performance to wipe out a very rare mistake from Lowey.

Our first goal seen Jesse Dowling, Sam Burns and Elliot Hughes linking up and after Elliot had continued his run into the box, Sam cut it back and Elliot made no mistake.

The second goal was a gem going from back to front after the impressive Frazer Cookson cleared his lines found Dan Lower and after a flick from Lowey, Elliot Hughes knocked it inside for Sam Burns, Sam in turn slotted a ball through for Lewis Buckley and what a finish it was from the big man who found the far corner leaving the keeper with no chance.

It was Bukco who turned provider for the last two goals of the game, with his first assist laid off to Elliot Hughes, who finished off his 20th goal since signing in October.

The fourth scene Bucko switch the ball out to Tom Douglas and Dougie jink past a defender like he wasn’t there, took it in on goal and struck it well, game over.

FT 4-1

So the title challenge faulted on the last day of the season, and we certainly couldn’t have done any more especially on a pitch that wasn’t friendly to football on the floor, but as we do, we still gave it a right go and am extremely proud we took the title challenge down to the last day of the season.

I have seen a post today from our club sec Jimbo Davies which said “we didn’t win the league, we never should have, but we nearly did” and I am having that all day.

The McNamara’s Sports Bar MOM went to Frazer Cookson who was immense, and it's fitting the only player to start every league game in the Prem got the award on the last day… Some shift that Frazer son.

Said it so many times this season but that support yesterday was nothing short of first class and it’s the same week on week and you never let us down and whilst we didn’t grab that title we still have two big prizes to play for at the seasons end and am sure you would have took a bowl of that back in August.

It’s the play off semi-final next Saturday afternoon down at the Anny, we hope you can come join us.

We Go Again.

Up The Breck.
