Another big win as we dispatched FC St Helens 5-1 with a dominant performance.
The first half hour was all Breck with the ball with FC having the occasional counter, but we just needed that first goal to come, and it came via a gift from ex Breck defender Harry Hagen who sliced a Tom Croughan cross into the back of his own net.
Just on the stroke of half-time it was 2-0 when Michael Fitzgerald sent a high ball into the box and with Elliot Hughes going up with the keeper there was only one winner.
HT 2-0
The third came straight after the kick-off, and it saw a few neat passes followed by a Tom Croughan strike which the keeper parried, and on hand to finish it off was Jesse Dowling for his 16th goal of the season.
From then, it was a case of how many more we can get and with Sam Burns bang in the mood he went and grabbed another brace.
The fourth goal seen a quality counter from an FC free kick, Fitzy finding Elliot Hughes who took the ball down brilliantly, the ball was squared to Tom Croughan whose shot was saved, but Sam Burns was on hand to pounce.
Goal five came after excellent work from Elliot Hughes and Sam Burns who pressed hard to win a ball back, the ball was cut back to Sam Burns, and he dropped a shoulder in the box and finished with ease.
The only blight on the performance was a late goal for FC with a ball to the back post not being dealt with cleanly and the ball dropped in a good area for a tap in, but the damage was done and the game was well won.
FT 5-1
Another performance when we’re not fully firing but bag five goals and once again coming on the back of a tough game on Thursday night, got massive respect for how tough a side FC St Helens can be but as they said themselves they were never in that game with our front three playing like they had a cheat code.
The McNamara’s Sports Bar MOM went to Frazer Cookson who didn’t put a foot wrong once again winning yet another battle against another tough number nine.
Also, a mention for Owen Collinge who came off the bench early for the injured Liam Morris who also didn’t put a foot wrong in a very good display.
As always, a massive thank you to those who could make the early kick-off, and we hope to see you all on Thursday night for another big game under the Anny lights as we welcome South Liverpool.
We Go Again.
Up The Breck.
