BRECK GO TO TOWN IN THE SECOND HALF

LOWER BRECK3 Mar - 10:29

Another Valuable Three Points On The Road...

Another great result on the road yesterday, beating Longridge Town 5-1 with all the goals coming in the second half
.
Longridge have to be one of the best young footballing sides you will see, with their movement & patterns hard to contain, and it proved that way in the first 60 minutes of the game.

First half we carved open some excellent chances with Sam Burns having a glorious chance that was probably harder to miss, but his connection from close range was too good and flew over the bar, Michael Fitzgerald also seen an effort skim over the bar.

The game was end to end and Longridge managed to get in behind on a few occasions, but like us nothing came from it, and we went in level at the break.
HT 0-0
Second half we started OK but Longridge managed to get the first big opportunity of the half when a threw ball seen Theo come rushing out and he was always second best to the ball, and he took the player out for a penalty, up stepped the on loan Bury man Morgan Homson Smith, and he clipped the top of the bar as it sailed over.

A let off for us and another one followed straight away when a ball to the back post found the little tricky winger, but he couldn’t sort his feet out for a simple tap in.

We had to raise our game, and we did just that, after a great hold up play from Tom Croughan he laid it into the path of Elliot Hughes and Elliot drove into the box dropped a shoulder passed the defender and slotted home.

That joy was short-lived, and it came after a great bit of keep ball from us but from the edge of the town box we decided in the next two passes to go back to Theo who pumped it back to their keeper, a poor decision, and it was duly pushed with what I’ve gotta say was an excellent team goal from them.
From that point it was all Breck, and we stepped up a gear and took the game away from our hosts, with Sam Burns instrumental in what was to come.

Once again excellent work from Tom Croughan who took two touches before laying it on for Sam Burns and with 2,3,4 men all closing him Sam danced into the box and sent home a cracking finish.

The third goal was a peach with Elliot Hughes and Liam Morris working hard to get the ball back, Morris then sent a delightful outside of the boot ball over to Sam Burns, Sam drove his man into the box and as the keeper came out to thwart him he lifted it over with a cracking finish.

After an excellent block to prevent Longridge emptying there box by the returning Dan Lowey, the ball fell kindly to Jordan Barrow, and he sent home another cracking finish to make it four , and we wasn’t done there with Lewis Buckley getting amongst the goals when Michael Fitzgerald powered a shot goal wards, Bucko was in the right place at time to guide it home with a neat finish, game over.

FT 5-1

A day when we had to dig deep against a side who cause you many problems, but once we got that bit between our teeth we managed to go up a gear and take the game away from them very quickly.

The McNamara’s Sports Bar MOM went to Sam Burns, took the game by the scruff and was instrumental in all our good work and capped another excellent performance with a pair…a joy to watch with that ball at his feet.

As always, a big mention for the travelling Breck support.

With the bus breaking down on the way, did they give up ? Not a chance, they got another bus to come meet them so they could continue the journey… Outstanding effort once again to come and support the lads…

Up next, it’s three homes games on the spin starting with West Didsbury on Thursday night, a massive game for both and fair to say we need all the support we can get for what should be another cracker under the lights.

We Go Again.

Up The Breck…
