Another solid performance and three points on the road as we beat Pilkington 4-1.
Didn’t start the game particularly well and was a little sluggish and wasteful in possession and that gave Pilks some belief early doors, but as soon as the first goal went in the quality soon come through.
A short corner routine was worked well between Jesse Dowling & Owen Collinge and Jesse’s delivery was pinpoint and met by the head of Josh Dobie to give us the lead.
Right on the stroke of half-time it was two, and it was a trademark slalom run from Jesse once again causing problems as he drove in just yards out, and he just about managed to get his shot off, and it was deflected in the net by the Pilks defender,
HT 2-0
We knew Pilks would be hurting after putting son much into the opening half hour, and we came out and presses them straight away and got two quick fire goals on the back of their mistakes.
A great press from the front forcing them into a mistake which was fed to Lewis Buckley and Will the goal at his mercy he squared the ball unselfishly for Tim Douglas to slot home for his 4th goal of the season.
It was magic from Bucko for the 4th goal also with the ball being delivered from the right-hand side by Morgan Falloh, Bucko with his back to goal sent home a stunning back healed finish.
We made all the subs available to us to give some lads who were carrying knocks much needed rests, as always once you do it a player takes a knock with Josh Dobie going down, and we played on with ten men until Dobie could return as a body up top.
A mistake from Connor Bridge in the middle of the park seen Pilks get a late consolation goal, and we were disappointed to concede as the lads worked hard for another clean sheet, but it’s one Con will learn from also.
FT 4-1
Once we got over the slow start we were good value for the win and played some great football especially in the second half, another great three points on the road, and we climb up-to second in the table.
The McNamara’s Sports Bar MOM went to Connor Millington who was solid throughout and helped us clam things down when the opening half hour was a little scrappy from ourselves, a skipper’s performance.
Jordan Barrow, Frazer Cookson & Tom Douglas also worthy of a mention for there performances…
As always a massive thank you to those who made the trip with us once again, fantastic support as always…
A well earned midweek off and needed as we try to patch a few bodies up with the squad very thin with holiday, suspension and injuries all playing there part.
Back to the Anny next Friday night as we host Abbey Hey for the first meeting between the sides, let’s hope for a big crowd down there as we look to build on last weeks Charnock gate.
We Go Again.
Up The Breck…
