Another cracking away win yesterday beating Kendal Town 2-1.
We had the ball in the back of the first but the goal from Owen Collinge was disallowed with Tom Mitchell adjudged to have pushed a player in the back at the first contact but it wasn’t long before we made amends and took the lead.
Jay Salkeld taking a ball inside the Kendall half took a few yards before hitting it and after it left his foot it dipped, swerved and floated into the roof of the net with the keeper left standing still, a cracking strike from Salkeld.
The game was quite even for the next 20 minutes with us moving the ball around with plenty of confidence and our hosts going very direct and it was ball put into the box that seen them equalize.
A corner came in and after it was cleared it was floated back in and a close range header from around 6 years hit the back of the net, not the first time we have conceded from that sort of play this season and we have to be better in them moments.
Kendal had there backs up but nowt of note followed from either side before the half time whistle.
HT 1-1
A speculative effort from Lewis Buckley opened the second half before we got ourselves infront just minutes later.
Great interplay seen the ball moved out to the right hand side and the impressive Tom Douglas floated a ball over and Owen Collinge was on hand to head home with the ball coming of both posts in the process.
Kendal came at us and got given a very soft penalty with Owen Collinge being pushed in the back as he went up for a header and with a ball hitting his outstretched arm in the process the referee pointed to the spot.
Theo stood tall and saves the penalty low down to his right to keep us in the lead.
We had big chance to kill the game of with Bucko having the best of seeing his one vs one opportunity saved and Tom Douglas also put a ball on a plate at the back post after a great counter attack but no one was at home and it was a let of for the hosts.
Kendal kept pumping the ball into the box with Theo having to be brave and also tipping some efforts you would expect him to deal with wide, plenty of pressure came our way but the lads dug deep and seen out the added time that went from six minutes to nine.
FT 2-1
Another cracking win on the road, our 7th in the league this season which is a good return on the road at some tough grounds to go take the maximum points.
Montage Memorabilia MOM went to Owen Collinge who had another solid performance in the middle of the park and played on though a injury in the second half and put in a massive shift, plenty of contenders on the day but we also have to mention Theo’s second half performance also.
We have to thank you our hosts for there hospitality, always looked after by chairman Michael and today was no exception, also a massive thanks to there physio Heather who looked after the lads today in the absence of our club physio.
What can you say about the support who as always backed us all the way and got there rewards for it, greet scenes at the end on another great day for the club.
Back at it Tuesday night when we travel to Cheadle Town when we go to make it three wins on the spin to keep us fighting in at the right end of the table, hope you can come join us.
We Go Again.
