A tough one to take last night after putting in such a massive shift as we fell to a 2-1 defeat late on.
The blues looked sharp in the opening ten minutes but once we settled down we were good value for the lead at half-time after a move between Michael Fitzgerald, Liam Morris and Alex Cherera cut the toffees open, Alex chopping back inside and slotting with his left peg.
There were loads of hard running in the first half as we worked hard to stop Everton’s pattern of play and for the best part we certainly did that.
HT 1-0
Second half they started the better once again, but it was us who was looking the most dangerous with Morris & Cherera the main threat down the right-hand side.
It was Alex who had a massive opportunity to win us the game as he met a stunning ball from Nathan Corness but Alex’s shot cannoned back to the inside of the post.
With 93 minutes played the first sucker punch came with the Blues grabbing the equaliser when a one twin on the edge of the box seen a shot let off and Theo couldn’t get down quick enough and following that a bigger blow was to follow.
A nothing ball forward seen the Blues latest prodigy Braiden Graham chase the ball down but with Theo miscalculating the balls pace he was beaten to it and a simple tap in followed, no denying it was an absolute clanger, and sadly we can’t gloss over that.
FT 1-2
A game we should never have lost but somehow did but as always you have to take the positives and there was plenty of them with some excellent performances with the two young centre mids putting in quality showings and Liam Morris & Alex Chehera unplayable down the right.
It was Alex who picked up the MOM award putting in one of his best performances of the season.
As always great vocal home support backing the lads all the way and no doubt backing us in great numbers on Saturday as we head to Sporting Khalsa.
We Go Again.
