Sadly, we bowed out of the FA Trophy, beaten 2-0 by a well drilled Stockton Town side.
The first half hour we were more than matched our hosts and had two great close range opportunities to get the opener but soon after that a tremendous ball in from the left-hand side was met by the head of the Town number ten, a great ball but an unchallenged header is disappointing.
The rest of the half was similar to the first half hour, and we went in one down.
HT 0-1
Second half we started well, and it was pretty similar to the first we had two glorious chances to level the game when Sam Burns went through on goal but seen his effort saved, the ball then fell to Lewis Buckley who scuffed his chance into the arms of the keeper, big moments in the game.
Up the other end Stockton made no mistake when given the next opportunity and after Theo Roberts pulled off a stunning save to his left the follow-up was tapped home.
We huffed and puffed and left spaces at the back, but we couldn’t get that goal to get us back in the game, and we bow out of the FA Trophy with our heads held high.
FT 0-2
Don’t think you will find many more tougher away days than that, but once again I know some lads were way below the standard they have shown in the opening seven weeks of the season, and you can’t afford to drop your levels against well drilled and organised sides like Stockton.
The Watch The Time MOM went to Liam Morris who kept running hard a showed some glimpses of the quality he has on the ball…
As always we were backed by a cracking away following, and we thank you all enough for backing us on the road through this run of away games and am glad to finally say we will be back at home next weekend as we host Darlaston Town on Saturday afternoon.
We hope you can come and join us.
Up The Breck…
