Yet another fantastic away day / night for the club as we beat Staylbridge Celtic 3-0 in the FA Trophy.
It was an end to end first half with some good football played from both sides.
First off Celtic had goal ruled out after a tremendous save from Theo Roberts who tipped the ball onto the bar but the man running in to tap it home was offside, the Staylbridge skipper also forced a good save from Theo when he struck one from 25 to 30 yards out, some hit from way out which Theo dealt with well.
We were looking a massive threat going forward, and we had some big opportunities with Harry McGee putting one down the throat of the keeper and Lewis Buckley floating one goal bound which brought a good but comfortable save from the Celtic keeper and Jordan Barrow seen his speculative effort saved also.
Just as we were closing in on half-time up stepped Sam Burns with another one of his magic moments, Harry McGee linking up with Sam down the left-hand side and after Burnsey created a yard for himself he unleashed a stunning, unstoppable strike.
HT 1-0
The second half performance It's fair to say was first class.
McGee, Buckley, Burns & Cherera all having great opportunities to extend our lead with the pressing and pressure presenting us with the chances and that sustained pressure finally reaped its reward in the 72nd minute.
Sam Burns shifted the ball out to Harry McGee who tried to return the favour, but the ball bounced back to him off the defender's leg and H powered a strike home.
Michael Fitzgerald had to clear one of the line as Staybridge pushed for a lifeline, but we pushed for a third, and it was man of the match Sam Burns who grabbed it
Alex Cherera moving the ball on to Sam who in turn dropped a shoulder to take out two defenders and with the space created he put it away to cap off a fantastic individual performance.
We weren’t finished there in terms of the quality football we were playing and after another quality move Owen Collinge was taken out and a penalty was rightly awarded, sadly Jesse Dowling seen his effort go high and wide over the crossbar (one he will want to forget).
FT 3-0
Another fantastic away performance especially in that second half when we was dominant from when we left the dressing room, for anyone to go to a Staybridge Celtic and win three nil that will tell you the level of performance on the night.
The Watch The Time MOM went to Sam Burns who once again produced them magic moments, both his goals were classy and his overall performance was right outta the top draw…
Once again we were backed by excellent vocal support who travelled in good numbers yet again, we thank you all once again…
Up next we travel to Chasetown on Saturday afternoon as we conclude a month of game on the road and we look to make it a month full of wins also.
We Go Again.
Up The Breck…
