We can’t gloss over it as some really poor performances first half absolutely killed us today as we bow out of the FA Cup after a 3-1 defeat at Hallam.
First goal seen a back to front ball seemingly take out the whole team and with Theo going backwards it was left for the frontman to have all the time in the world to slot home.
We grew into the game and had a couple of efforts with a Harry McGee free kick being comfortable saved and before the next salvo we were the better side it has to be said.
The hosts got a second when Tom Mitchell misjudged a bouncing ball and once again it was left to the Hallam forward to virtually walk it in, and to compound the misery a third mistake seen Hallam go three up with Theo spilling a ball at the front post.
A comical half we’ve not seen the likes of for a very long time (and don’t want to see again any time soon).
HT 0-3
Loads of ball second half and two quality saves from the Hallam keeper kept us out, but after changes of personnel and formations we finally got a deserved goal back with Alex Cherera floating a lovely finish home from just inside the box.
We kept going but just couldn’t find a second and for the second year running we bow out of the FA Cup away at Hallam.
FT 1-3
Goes without saying, but not a performance we want to see repeated anytime soon, but if there was a wake-up call needed for a few of the boys then they have certainly got one today.
Lewis Buckley takes home the Watch The Time MOM award, Bucko ran the line as best he could and put a shift in across the 90 plus.
Massive thanks to those who made the effort and spent there monies to come and watch us today goes without saying we thank you all…
So it’s Mossley away next week as we start life in the NPL and am sure a positive response will be seen.
We Go Again.
