Senior Cup Final Secured With Big Performance...

Another fantastic night under the Anny lights as we beat Runcorn Linnets in the LCFA Senior Cup Semi Final 3-1

We near had the perfect start with Tom Croughan having a chance yards out, but his shot came off the studs into the deck and the keeper made a save he shouldn’t have been allowed to, the follow-up seen us hit the bar also the frantic start didn’t end there as we found ourselves 1-0 down when we were beaten to a header at the back and the ball was popped off, the through ball out a man in one v one and Theo was unlucky not to keep it out.

The game was end to end and a little too direct for me, but we were playing well enough and on the front foot, but it was a set piece from Connor Millington that brought us level, the wall breaking up leaving the keeper with no chance.

We near had a second when great vision from Tom Croughan seen him lob the keeper from 35 to 40 yards out, a cracking effort from TC.

HT 1-1

Second half we were right on it and in the first five minutes alone could and should have made it two with a few glorious opportunities going to waste.

It was all Breck on the front foot, and we got that deserved second goal when a ball was floated over from Elliot Hughes and Jordan Barrow sent home a stunning header.

Linnets went for it and a few opportunities came and went, and it was bodies on the line from us, but the maximum relief came with two minutes to go when Connor Millo put the ball through for Lewis Buckley and with the defender missing the ball and keeper not fancying a clattering from Bucko it was put on a plate for him to wrap up another memorable win for the Breck.

FT 3-1

Once again a night to remember has secured a place in the Senior Cup final when we will play Everton, you would have been locked up for saying that 15 years ago when the club was formed.

The McNamara’s Sports Bar MOM went to Connor Millington, A Rolls-Royce performance from the skipper, who grabbed the game by the scruff halfway through the second half and didn’t let it go…????

Fantastic support once again for the lads with the vocal support in the second half first class just as it was post game, also a mention for the Linnets supporters who were first class and very complimentary despite the disappointment, a credit to the club.

Tomorrow we welcome Barnoldswick Town, another big game as we keep pushing the title favourites until the very end.

We Go Again.

Up The Breck…❤️
