SENIOR CUP SEMI FINAL FOR THE BRECK AS CABLES DISPATCHED

LOWER BRECK3 Mar - 10:23

First Class All Over...

Another excellent team performance last night as we beat Prescot Cables 4-1 in the LCFA Senior Cup.

Got off to a fantastic start and from it we never looked back, despite Cables pegging us back with their only notably chance in the game.

Ours first goal of the night seen Tom Croughan tap home from close range after a delightful ball from Elliot Hughes put it on a plate from yards out, as said Prescot made a quick response and it came down the left-hand side and with a little bit of trickery and poor defending from us Cables were level.

But a equally brilliant response from ourselves dented any hope the visitors were going to build on that goal and from a shot come cross from Tom Croughan we grabbed a second with Sam Burns on hand to tap home the wayward strike from TC (assist still claimed).

We were good value for the lead and was looking dangerous in the cables half and with there formation working to our advantage the pressure was relentless and just on the stroke of half-time a bit of magic from Elliot Hughes made it three as he created a yard for himself before drilling it past the keeper at the near post.

HT 3-1

We came out the dressing room full of confidence, and after we had seen of a few moments of positive football from Cables our advantage was stretched further with Connor Millington sending home a lovely finish after being set up up by Jordan Barrow.

Sadly Baz’s night was cut short after being show a straight red card for a tackle, Barrow standing leg crashed into the player, but there was no intent to harm the player who i’ll add received no treatment, but a straight red was given very quickly and it was an early night for Baz.

From that moment on we were first class and had more of the ball than we did with 11 men, with the lads galvanised by the sending off and wanting to maintain the dominance we had in the game, and they did just that.

FT 4-1

Another top draw performance under the Anny lights when every player stepped up with a 9/10 showing, which is exactly what you need when you’re paying teams from a higher step in the pyramid.

The McNamara’s Sports Bar MOM went to Elliot Hughes, I am running out of things to describe his performances but what can say it’s an absolute pleasure to watch him play in a Breck shirt, an outstanding footballer.

A massive thanks to those who came along to the game, a cracking crowd inside the Anny on a Thursday night, and we thank all those who traveled with cables also, who not only made it a terrific atmosphere but were more than respectful in defeat aswell.

Up next is a trip to Longridge Town and another proper tough away day guaranteed.

We Go Again.

Up The Breck…
