Back to winning ways yesterday with a four nil win but it certainly wasn’t plane sailing with Wythenshaw Amatuers dominating the first forty-five minutes.

We knew how Wythenshaw would set up after watching them a few weeks back but still against a side who have full confidence in how they like to work the ball/movement it’s never easy and especially when you gift them possession and space it can make it even harder.
That said for all their dominance with the ball Theo wasn’t threatened and their best attempt was thwarted by great covering work from Will Bell.

Second half we looked much better to start and even though they still had their confidence you could see we was looking more like our usual self and with players now looking to beat there men instead of being too direct as was the case in the first half.

The opener came via a Jamie Ménagh penalty after Connor McCarthy was taken out, after driving his man into the box he was wiped out for a clear penalty and Jamie made no mistake with a good strike from the spot.

The relief lifted and we was on the front foot for the remainder of the game and it was Connor McCarthy providing the drive, it was his work that produced the second after a free kick from Theo was flicked on by Rankin it found McCarthy who turned his body to goal stood his man up and created a yard to get a shot off the ball was saved and into the path of JJ who nicely headed home at the back post.

Our third came from another set piece with Bill Smart at the back post sending one home but, on the line, JJ was on hand to get his second of the game.

Our fourth seen JJ wrap up his hat trick after some great tracking back from Tom Mcnamara which in turn helped Will Bell win the ball back it was moved out wide and with it being recycled well JJ made a great run driving to the edge of the box and he sent home a strike the keeper could only get a hand too and that was the game right there wrapped up.

So, a game of two half’s and we certainly had to work for it against a side destined for the prem division next season but for us another clean sheet shows how hard the lads are working for each other no matter what changes we make on the day.

Few contenders for MOM with Jawad Jebrin obviously in the running with his hat trick and Billy Smart,Tom Williams & Ryan Smith all having solid games once again, but Connor McCarthy got the vote after a quality second half when he was at the forefront of all the good stuff we were producing (we will forget about his first half).

Quality as always from the Breck support who backed us to another win and the noise them youngsters are making in the stand is top draw and goes a long way with the lads, the support they are giving them and like i said last night one of the best signings of the season all them…

Thankfully a midweek of so we can rest a few bodies and train on Thursday before another tough away day as we travel to Bury which promises to be another big test for the lads.
