SLIM WIN AT OSWESTRY MAKES IT FOUR FROM FOUR FOR THE WEEK

LOWER BRECK24 Nov 2019 - 01:17

Depleted To Near Full Strength..

A hard fought 1-0 cup win today away at FC Oswestry.

A game of very few chances with both teams cancelling each other out in the final third but we was the team pushing to make the breakthrough but going forward we just wasn’t sharp enough today (a rarity that for us).

Credit to Oswestry who set themselves up to be hard to beat and they got behind the ball very well and made themselves very hard to break down whilst also having a great close range header in the first half that could have won the game the way it was being played out.

Second half was more of the same and even though we looked sharper we still wasn’t cutting our opponents open not for lack of trying.

The winner came with 15 minutes remaining the returning Mick Douglas coming of the bench powered a Jamie Morton cross home with the ball being headed into the ground wrong footing the keeper and bouncing high into the net.

Mick Dougie powered another onto the bar not long after which would have wrapped it up but it was a nervy ending to game with Oswestry pushing for a equaliser but it was seen out and another tough job done.

FT 1-0

Been a tough week playing 4 games in 7 days so to wrap it up with another win to make it 4/4 we can’t be any happier/prouder of the lads with the shifts they have had to put in.

A question was asked prior to the first game of this run and it’s been well and truly answered and once again hats off to all the lads I questioned.

MOM vote went to Ste Milne who had to graft for all he could get today and he put in a big second half shift to get the nod.

JamieMorton19 was another strong candidate as was Ricky Ager on his return to the side.

A great travelling contingent once again backed the lads all the way and we appreciate the effort as always guys and gals.

Up next Saturday is another huge fixture as we host Hebburn Town in the 3rd round of the FA Vase.

With Liverpool being at home it’s a tough ask to get a big gate but if there is ever a game we need to see a big support it will be this one as we no Hebburn will have 100 down showing there support for there lads be great to match them or out do them.

We Go Again.
