BERCK SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH IN THE MACRON

Poor performance today and one we certainly won’t hide from.

First half took us 25 minutes to string five passes together and got punished for a sloppy pass in the middle of the park with our keeper stranded we went one down.

A slight reaction from us as we went close and in truth should have levelled from close range.

HT 1-0

A few truths were said at half time and we came out much better but then some calamitous mis communication gifted Maine Road a second which was quickly followed by a third with a ball that was never on being forced and we got sucker punched with a whipped in ball being headed home (the wingers first ever headed goal apparently)!

After a few changes we started a fight back and after playing some football on the floor for a change we started to cause problems and we got two quick fire goals ourselves.

The first coming from a Paul Mooney corner with Johno Swatton knocking it home and the Oscar Billington put Jamie Henders in one v one and he slotted home comfortably.

With 12 minutes to go it’s looked like we was going to be pushing road all the way to the end but for some bizarre reason we started to lump it in the air time and time again and it was bread and butter balls for a defender at best and it was from one effort that was headed away with ease the resulting counter seen us sucker punched again for a fourth goal and one that ended any hope of a fightback.

Maine Road deserved the win today no question but once again we was the gift that keeps giving with all four goals being poor from our point of view no doubt good finishes but they should never have had the opportunity’s it’s that simple.

One thing is certain when we have a bad day at the office we do it as a team and I’d be hard pushed to find a player to change my mind tonight it was poor from us collectively.

MOM Josh Molloy and that’s being pushed to name one today.

Up next it’s 4 games in 7 days (crazy fixture scheduling) starting away at Chadderton next Saturday afternoon) and with three of them league games it’s important we step up and see who got the bollocks for the fight ahead of us.
