Bodies On The Line And Clinical When Needed...

A outstanding performance today from the lads and those who travelled also with us beating a excellent Charnock Richard side 5-2.
We got off to a absolute flyer with Paul Mooney seeing his freekick deflected past the goalkeeper to give us a lead on two minutes.

Charnock had us on the back foot for the next 15 minutes with some outstanding saves from the returning Josh Molloy and some equally outstanding defending keeping them out.

We looked dangerous on the counter attack and it was from a break we got our second goal with Ste Milne getting into the box on the left hand side of the box and with incoming options available he picked a dink to the back post for Mitchell Culshaw to nod home a tidy header.

We had great opportunity to extend our lead and Charnock also had some great chances but we seen the half out and went in two up at the break.

HT 2-0

Second half Charnock started the better with us being a touch sloppy but a few words was said and the lads started to do the right things at the right time and a direct ball to turn them around resulted in the third goal with Ste Milne being brought down by the last man and up he stepped to dispatch the resulting penalty.

Five minutes after it was four nil and it was another gem from Luke Duffy who certainly doesn’t score the tap ins with this one a trade mark whip leaving the keeper with no chance (Even though he got a slight hand to it).

We was looking dangerous and comfortable in possession playing some smart football and through the determination of Liam Morris we got our 5th.

Liam fighting for the ball out wide and beating two men but with the ball escaping him he stretched for it and delivered into the path of Jay Colbeck who done the keeper with the eyes and put one into the bottom corner (don’t no what the CDM was doing so high though.

Disappointing for us too concede two late goals as the lads didn’t deserve that for there efforts but the game was well over as a contest and the job was well and truly done.

FT 5-2

Couldn’t be any prouder of the lads today and those who travelled with us also.

From the first minute to the last we all wanted the same thing and the vocal support the lads got for 90 minutes was outstanding and all those involved take just as much credit as those on the pitch.

Man of the Match was a take your pick scenario but once again the skipper Ricky Ager stepped up and put in a monster of a performance and pipped the rest.

We await the draw on Monday afternoon to see who we get in the 2nd Round.

Up next it’s our 3rd cup game on the spin as we welcome Cammel Lairds to Anfield Sports.

We hope to get the same level of support for that on also.

We Go Again.
