Round One We Go Again...

Certainly not a vintage Breck performance today far from it but a important 4-3 win gets us into the hat for the FA Vase 1st Round proper.
A calamity way to start the game with a own goal from Paul Mooney after he flicked a header back to the keeper who called for it but was caught out by the flick.

Louis Austin was looking our main threat and it was through his great work on the right that our equaliser came with Ozzy beating his man at every opportunity this time cutting a ball back for Ste Milne to put away.

Our second came from a Paul Mooney freekick being spilled and on hand to tap home was Jay Colbeck who finished well under pressure.

HT 2-1

Second half was just like the first with us being very wasteful in possession and very lazy in doing our jobs going back and Pilkington got a deserved goal with a freekick crossed into the box going straight in at the far post.

We looked to have snatched the win with a Ste Milne penalty but once again Pilks hit back when a player made his way inside way to easy and sent home a decent far corner finish.

But whist not being at our best we didn’t stop pushing and we snatched a late 90th minute winner with a Luke Duffy corner being swing in and with it being popped back in the air by Ricky Ager and Mick Douglas went up with the keeper who didn’t deal with the cross and the ball fell to Johno Swatton who wrapped his foot around it and smashed it home from a yard out.

A few opportunities went begging to wrap the game up and then we faced a nervey last kick of the game attempt when a corner was pumped into the box but we seen the game out and in the hat we go for Monday’s draw.

FT 4-3

As said not at our best today with a few lads way below par and too many individual performances with lads doing what was right for them and not for the team near costing us dear but after a tough week we come through it with another big win that gets us into the FA Vase first round proper for the second year on the run.

MOM vote went to Louis Austin who followed up a impressive midweek performance today with another quality showing.

It’s a massive game on Thursday night as we welcome Ashton Town to Anfield Sports and with first playing second in the table it promises to be a huge game for both sides.

We hope you can get down to show your support once again.

We Go Again.
