Gutted to get beat today in the FA Cup but super proud of everyone involved with the club today.
Couldn’t have asked for a better start as we took the game to Charnock with Jay Colbeck going close before Paul Mooney hit the bar with a far post header.
For 25 minutes the game plan was working well but Charnock started to get a foothold and for the remainder of the half had us on the back foot and with the very last kick of the half (and I mean last) they pounced on a poor ball in the centre of the park and got a shot inside the box with the deflection beating Josh.
HT 1-0
The second half was more open but we still couldn’t capitalise on the space out wide and another poor goal from our respective came midway through the half.
A few tweaks and changes were made and with nothing to lose we started to look more of a threat going forward with the Charnock keeper being forced into some quality saves but with Paul Mooney whipping in a venomous ball Jamie Henders knocked it home to get us right back in the game.
Another top draw save followed that with Mooney throwing one down the keeper throat and with a few more good moments wasted we went down fighting the very end.
FT 2-1
Whilst the result hurts tonight we can still be immensely proud as a club with the lads and for all those who have supported us to this point.
To be playing FA Cup football under 10 years after our founding it’s been a big day for us all and to see the level of support we had over social media and with the travelling support it’s dented the pain of the defeat and we no there be many more days like this for the club moving forwards at this level.
MOM today went to Paul Mooney who once again put in a massive performance and done all he could to drag us through to a replay which on reflection we think we deserved.
No rest for the lads as we travel to Huddersfield on Tuesday night to face Steeton as we look to keep our great start to the league campaign going.
Once again thank you to all who travelled today it’s appreciated beyond words.
We Go Again.
