A massive hard fought 2-1 win today in the LCFA County Cup away at East Villa.
Under pressure from the opening minute with the Villa direct ball causing us trouble but we soon found our feet and when Peter Donnelly was brought down in the box we got the important first goal you need in these game Paul Mooney dispatching the spot kick.
Had a few chances too get a second with Peter Donnelly creating something spectacular outta nothing but his shot was well saved.
HT 0-1
Second half we started much better and created 2/3 great chances with the outside of the post being hit and others being snatched at.
We had a glorious chance with less than twenty minutes remaining to grab the second when Peter found himself 1v1 and with the keeper giving him the biggest target to hit P Don somehow dragged his shot wide.
Near instantly Villa went up the other end and grabbed a equaliser with some good work down the left they had our right back going bsckwards and got a shot off and it hit the back of the net.
But it was blow for a blow and within 90 seconds we went up the other end and grabbed what proved to be the winner.
The ball being moved quickly down the left side Brodie Kearns delivered a cross that the centre half could only slice in the air and on hand and ready too pounce was Jamie Henders who put it away from close range.
Villa piled on the pressure without testing our keeper and we hit them on the break a few times but couldn’t get the killer third goal but in the end it wasn’t needed and we move into the semi final for the first time in our open age history.
FT 1-2
A proper cup tie today played on a good old fashioned grass pitch and the lads stepped up and showed were not only a classy footballing side on the plastic stuff we can mix it with anyone/anywhere when we need too.
Man Of Match vote went to Peter Donnelly who’s work rate and desire was pleasing too see (we can let him off for his sitter) also a mention for Marc Steevo who was top draw in the middle of the park today also.
Up next it’s the defence of the I-Zingari Cup as we host Custys up in Breck 3G.
We Go Again.
