A comfortable 4-0 win today against Alumni FC which opened our defence of the George Mahon Cup.
Game had a strange start with Brodie Kearns passing out not long after kick off thankfully he was/is ok but obviously he was took of as a precaution and hopefully he be back fighting fit next week.
The lads after that scare then had too deal with the atrocious weather conditions but we soon clicked into gear with Peter Donnelly getting us of the mark after some great work from Ben Garrity.
Paul Mooney fired home a penalty for our second before Jamie Henders scored a absolute cracker no words can do justice.
With the ball being shifted about it found its way out to Tom Kinsella who sent over a ball too Hendo who took it down on his chest and sent over a looping finish into the the far too corner from the tightest of angles ??
HT 3-0
The second half seen the weather get even worse and our finishing was in that same vain with five or six 1v1 chances going begging plus the heroics of Alumni also played its part with the many other chances.
It was up to Paul Mooney to finish the game of with another gem of a strike after linking up well with Johnny Swatton Moonshine drilled a cracker from near 30 yards out straight into the top corner stanch ??
Game won and job done with only 13 available today and in them weather conditions and after the early scare it was all about getting the result and the lads did just that.
Man Of Match went to Tom Kinsella who put in a big shift all over the park and was at the heart of us driving on throughout the game ????
Up next a massive County Cup Quarter Final away at East Villa (weather permitting).
We Go Again.
Up The Breck...
