A cracking 6-2 win today for the lads today away at Old Xavs in a game we finished with 9 men.
Started of very well and got a grip of the game early on with our first goal coming from the impressive Joe McGovern who was assisted by Ben Garrity.
Number two followed minutes later with Jay Colbeck finishing of after more great work from Ben Garrity yet again.
Then a penalty was awarded to Old Xavs which Josh Molloy saved to keep the lads lead intact.
The lads kicked on from that and grabbed goal number three with Peter Donnelly who was making his first start for the Breck assisting Joe Mcgovern for his second of the game.
We wasn't finished there and our impressive first half attacking showing continued with goal number four coming from Jamie Henders after great work from Joe McGovern out on the right.
Then a moment of madness from Jack Mc and the referee in our opinion.
Jack running shoulder to shoulder with a Xavs player going into the box put in a last ditch challenge and brought the man down with the referee issuing a straight red card.
Under the new laws of the game it should have been a yellow card and a penalty as Jack made a genuine attempt for the ball.
The referee said to me within a minute of the decision if he was wrong he will go to a appeal on the players behalf and back us (Let's see if the assessing officer and referee back us when the call is made next week)
The penalty was dispatched.
Half Time 4-1
Second half we started well and hit Xavs on the break with Jamie Henders running the line well and going 1v1 with the keeper and putting it away with power.
Soon after it was Jamie who ended up being sent off the field.
After getting a daft card for kicking the ball away Jamie continued his conversation with the referee and received his marching orders via another card!!!
5-1 and backs to the wall with 9 men the lads had to dig deep and we wasn't helped by another referee decision.
With Xavs getting a freekick on the edge of our box the referee was walking the 10 yards when the freekick was put into the net and the referee to our amazement gave the goal even though he was marching the yards out!!!
The lads had to batten down the hatches and they did that putting in massive shifts all over and to finish of a first class performance from the lads we went and grabbed a killer 6th goal with debutant Jeff King holding the play up well Joe Brookes rampaged up from Left Back and tapped home with the help of a shin to give the lads a great way to finish a tough tough game on the big Xavs pitch.
6-2 the final score.
All credit to the Xavs staffs who gave us glowing credit for the lads performance today
Our lads after some indifference performances done everything that was asked of them and put in a top draw team showing and that's the pleasing aspect of today's game.
Man Of The Match went to Ben Garrity who was everywhere today and put in a classy showing all over the park.
Up next it's derby day for us as we face Byrom at home next Saturday.
We will go again.
Up The Breck...
