Second Half Performance Blanks Out The First...

A eight goal thriller at the Anny last night seen us come out 5-3 winners against Squires Gate.

A slow start from us seen go a goal down within five minutes with a defensive error costing us and it was another error which seen us go two goal down with under half hour played.

A goal just on the stroke of half time got us back into the game and it was the impressive James “Spud” Murphy who seen his corner go sailing straight in.

We wasn’t poor in the way we played in the first half by any means but a few lads was way below the standard of what we need from them.
HT 1-2

Second half started end to end with both teams having too much space to play into and it Spud Murphy who used that space to his advantage.
Picking up a ball on the halfway line, he took the ball down the left hand side and delivered a cracking ball for Lewis Buckley, his header could only crash against the post but Jay Salkeld was on hand to tap home the rebound.

We introduced Leo Riley, Eric Byrne and Yao Evrard (Evra for short) from the bench, Evra coming on for his Breck debut and after one or two tactical changes the impact of them changes followed.

Leo hooking a ball forward that was initially dealt with but it fell to Eric Byrne who then put a ball over the top, Lewis Bucko was in a offside position but he clearly bent his run so Evra could run on to it and after he seen his attempt saved Bucko was on hand for the tap in, Squires Gate player’s not happy, thinking Bucko was interfering but it wasn’t the case and it was goal given.

I didn’t have time to blink and it was 3-3

Owen Collinge winning the header straight from the kick off but it fell to the Gate frontman and he took a few touches and drove one low into the corner.
The lads had to raise it again and near had a wonder goal courtesy of Connor Millington who hit a first time volley from 25 yards that crashed of the inside of the top of the post, some strike from Millo.

The fourth goal and one that finally took the wind from Squires Gate seen Lewis Buckley rob the ball from the gate defender who couldn’t sort his feet out after taking a high ball down, Bucko pounced and fed it to Spud Murphy and he sent home a cracking finish to give us a the lead yet again.
The game was wrapped up soon after and it was Evra once again causing problem with his pace and after driving in the box he lay it off to Shay Stansfield, Shay shuffled his feet and the ball and sent home a tidy finish to seel the three points.

FT 5-3

A eight goal thriller with both teams going at it till the end. not ideal going two down but the lads showed there qualities and character to make sure we not only got back in the game but could drive on and win it.

Montage Memorabilia MOM went to James Murphy who was outstanding last night and was driving us forward from whatever position he found himself on the pitch.

A mention for Yao “Evra” Evrard who came on from the bench and showed what he can bring with an impressive cameo, Evra has been training with us for around a month now and had to wait for a chance and he certainly took it last night.

A massive thank you to those who popped along last night for some Friday night footy, was also great to see one of our own David Smith returning after a few months away through illness, welcome back David.

It’s our last home game of the season next Saturday when we welcome promotion chasing Padiham to the Anny, be great to see a good turn out down at the game as we look to finish our home league campaign with another big win before we set sail for the Isle Of Man once again.

We hope you can join us.
