SLOPPY BRECK GRAB SCRAPPY POINT

Not a vintage game of football yesterday drawing 1-1 with Irlam but one we could have wrapped up late on.

First half we just didn’t get going and conceded a poor goal after 18 minutes, losing a ball just inside the Irlam half and with it being shifted over Bobby Walsh found himself going into a area he didn’t need to be and it was delivered in from the right hand side for a back post finish.

Irlam had a couple of half chances that we was slow getting out to before we forced them into a mistake late into the half which lead to the equalizer.

A good shape out of possession forcing a Irlam player to move a ball inside and either it under/over hit it didn’t find a teammate and Jay Salkeld was quick to pounce, driving into the box he took three players outta the game and with Tom Douglas in space Jay laid it off and Tom dispatched it for his 4th goal in 5 games.

HT 1-1

Half time we addressed a few issues and was much better for it but the ball play in the final third was simply not good enough.

Two glorious chances to win it seen Jay Salkeld meet a ball at the front post but his attempt skimmed the outside of the post and then we had a freekick right on the edge of the box but it’s fair to say it was wasted.

A easy day for both keepers if truth be told.

FT 1-1

A better second half but we just lacked that cutting edge and few lads took way too many touches which ultimately cost us space and overloads in the vital areas.

Certainly not a point both sides want or needed with teams in the play off also dropping points so a tough one to take.

Montage Memorabilia MOM went to Michael Fitzgerald who gave his usual solid performance throughout.
