A 0-0 game with Wythenshawe Town yesterday but we gave it a right go and second half especially was the much better side.
First half we some good moments with the best coming from Lewis Buckley who hit the post/keeper from a tight angle, we had loads of ball in the final third also but that last bit of quality was missing.
Wythenshaw also forced Theo into one great save and he picked the ball outta the net early on but it was offside.
We had James Murphy sin binned after the referee missed the officials offside flag and played on for another 30 or more seconds, Spud forcefully bounced the ball at the break down of play and got sin binned and you can probably guess we then got the free kick for the original offside (the baffling explanation from the match official seen one of our coaches yellow carded) it was shaping up to be one of them days.
HT 0-0
Second half for the best past it was all Breck with Town throwing bodies on the line blocking what we throwing at them.
What could have been a turning point in the game seen the Town keeper come outta his box to not only handle the ball but proceed to take it in two hands, and in doing that action he also took out Tom McNamara aswell, the linesman’s flag went up and after a long delay the man in the middle issued a yellow card (the wrong decision in most people’s opinion).
The explanation was Tom wasn’t getting the ball but surely he had a better chance of the keeper didn’t handle it outside the box…!!
Mooney’s free kick was dealt with the Town keeper who was lucky to be on the pitch.
Theo was called into action for the first time in the half saving well after the winger jinked inside and let of a cracking shot but Theo dealt with it well and then it was our turn to have the best chance of the game.
A whipped in freekick from Jay Salkeld was met by the head/neck of Josh Dobie who got power behind it but it was straight at the keeper, either side it was no doubt the match winner.
We pushed for the winner but couldn’t create another big chance but it wasn’t for the lack of trying.
FT 0-0
Back to back clean sheets for the lads and this one coming against a side who had scored plenty coming into the game and were unbeaten in 12 (now 13), we gave them a good go and they will no doubt be happier with the point than we was, but off course we take it against a quality side like Town.
Theo Roberts got the Montage Memorabilia MOM award for his two big saves, one coming in either half, Liam Morris & Connor Millington stand out performers also.
As always a massive thanks to those who popped along on a freezing cold day at the Anny, we hope you can come back and join us next week for another massive game down at the anny as we face Kendal Town who are the side we can most realistically catch in the play off race.
We Go Again.
Up The Breck…❤️
