A much needed first league win of the season yesterday beating Ramsbottom 5-2.
Didn’t get off to the best start at all with Rammy scoring from a set piece after just four minutes and they then had a second ruled out minutes later for offside.
We had two great chances to get level with Connor Rankin going close before Shay Stansfield forced the keeper into a great save.
It was a moment of madness that swung the game in our favour when the Rammy keeper and defender had a mix up which resulted in the keeper handing outside the box and the red card was shown.
In truth we didn’t really create too much for the rest of the half and then lost James Murphy to a silly sin bin so it was ten v ten going into the second half.
HT 0-1
Second half we didn’t put the pressure on we spoke about at half time or kept the width which resulted in two substitutions and it’s fair to say they had a massive impact.
A 14 move pass move seen us pull level with the impressive Liam Morris at the heart of it and after his cross was spilled Bobby Walsh sent it home with his right peg (didn’t no he had one).
We stayed on the front foot and in the next ten minutes took the game away from our opponents, Godwin Adabaki on his debut got us in front when he headed home a whipped in James Murphy corner and it was Spud Murphy who extended our lead four minutes later when Connor Rankin laid it of to him on th edge of the box and Spud sent home a tidy finish.
Connor Rankin got on the score sheet with a back post finish after some quality work from Jordan Shannon and it was Jordie who wrapped the game up from the penalty spot after he was brought down and fair play to our usual penalty taker Connor Rankin who gave Jordie the opportunity.
A late goal for Ramsbottom couldn’t hide our delight at getting our first league win of the season.
FT 5-2
As stated a much needed first league win of the season and we hit another five goals in a game, still a lot to improve on and to find the consistency we need but with big players still to return to the squad were in a good place and it’s a very good win and we now move onto Tuesday night at Chadderton.
Montage Memorabilia MOM went to Bobby Walsh who came back into the side after his suspension and showed what he all about when he stays on the pitch, a quality performance and goal also…??
Thanks to all those who joined us as always and to those from Rammy who traveled aswell great support for both clubs.
See you Tuesday night folks when we go again.
