TEN MEN BRECK GRAB ANOTHER POINT

A massive performance from the lads last night to get a more than deserved point after playing 60 minutes of the game with ten men.
A few sloppy moments from ourselves and our hosts seen big chances at either end with defensive mistakes not being punished.
We started having the better of the ball and go ourselves infront when a James Murphy corner was powered home by Connor Millington.

We near had a second and some goal it would have been with Shay Stansfield taking control of a ball 25 yards out, he unleashed a looping strike which beat the keeper but sadly crashed against the crossbar.

Then a moment of madness which was to put us on the back front for the rest of the game when Bobby Walsh needlessly left the ground with a tackle and was duly shown a red card (no complaints from us as you can’t leave the ground with both feet).

Irlam piled the pressure on but we stood firm with some heroic defending and some fine stops from Paddy Wharton in goal who was deputizing for Theo Roberts.

HT 1-0

Second half was all about digging deep and trying to catch Irlam on the counter and we had our moments, but Irlam got themselves level and us being us we was disappointed in the goal we gave away after defending so well for the best part letting Irlam in too easy down the right and seeing a tame cross/shot deflect past Paddy.

Once again we had to dig deep but we looked to make some positive substitutions to push Irlam back and create a chance or two of our own but we was being pegged back all the time and with some decisions going against us to help build that pressure we had to dig deep to see the game out and we did that to get what will prove to be another big point.

FT 1-1

A heroic shift from the lads to play for 60 minutes with a man light is never easy and we was under the cosh from the 50/50 calls not going our way also so it was a night of digging in and getting what we could from the game and a point is the least we deserved from it.
Plenty of Montage Memorabilia MOM contenders but it was Paddy Wharton who got the vote with some quality close range saves and showing his kicking ability also, which is a massive threat.

Many other outstanding performances with Shay Stansfield, Owen Jones & Roman Allen standing out.
