Another game we leave slightly disappointed from (2-2 draw) after missing so many chances to kill the game of in the first half alone.
First ten minutes there wasn’t much in the game but you could see our movement was causing Charnock problems and it wasn’t long before Connor Rankin near latched on to a ball that cut our hosts open.
We lost Paul Mooney with a hamstring injury but undeterred the lads stepped up there game and in the next 30 minutes had 4/5 massive chances to get ourselves in front.
Regan Jarrett lobbing the keeper one v one missing the target, Luke Sephton smashing one over from close range and Regan once again heading wide from close range when it was the hardest thing to do amongst those chances.
A perfectly good goal was ruled offside after classy move seen Luke Sephton head home but linesman flag went up wrongly as the footage shows.
How we went in level at the break is beyond me.
HT 0-0
Second half we came out way to slow and sloppiness crept into our game and we gave Charnock the opportunity to get themselves into the game and after Connor Millington lost a ball in the middle of the park leaving us wide open we was counted with a sweeping move and found ourselves one nil down.
Charnock then had another opportunity to grab a second but a good block on the edge of the box kept it at one nil.
The introduction of Bobby Walsh & Shay Stansfield had a instant reaction with Bobby delivering a ball into the box and with the Charnock keeper going into no mans land Connor Rankin headed home from the pen spot and to follow that up we got ourselves into the lead five minutes later when Luke Stephton headed home from a James “spud” Murphy cross to give us what you have to say was a much deserved lead.
It was a lead we didn’t hold onto and disappointingly we gifted our opponents a corner when the ball may have ran out for a goal kick and then it was punished further off when we let them take a quick corner unopposed and whilst the strike was quality it was awful from us in every sense of the build up.
Plenty of ball and opportunities to go get the winner but some of the final third quality was lacking and we sadly let two points slip away.
FT 2-2
Enough chances to win any game of football today and when your away to a side like Charnock you have to take them but unlike last week we just lacked the finishing and gifted them two goals also.
Montage Memorabilia MOM for the third game running went to James Spud Murphy who’s running in the first half caused all kinds of problems.
Massive thanks to all who travelled to show your support, it was greatly appreciated once again.
Next up we travel to Iralm on Tuesday night 7.45 kick off, we hope you can join us as always.
We Go Again.
